Your soaps are too expensive!

Even my own husband kept asking me “What’s the big deal, I’m just gonna wash my a** with it?” 😉
That is, until we went on vacation and got stuck using ‘fancy hotel soap’ that ended up stripping our skin of its own naturals oils leaving us dry and itchy.
Handmade cold process soaps are often more expensive than commercially produced soaps due to a combination of factors (see list below). Most commercially made ‘soaps’ are really detergents, which is why they are harsh to you skin.
· High-Quality, Natural Ingredients:
I use natural oils, butters, and essential oils that are more expensive than the synthetic ingredients and harsh chemicals found in many commercial 'soaps'.
· Labor-Intensive Process:
The cold process method involves a chemical reaction between oils/butters and lye, and the soap needs to cure for 4 weeks minimum before I sell it. This entire process is done by hand, requiring knowledge of chemistry, cookery, and patience.
· Smaller Batch Sizes and Specialized Production:
My soaps are made in small batches (typically 48 bars in a batch) which allows for more control over the quality. Specialty equipment, including molds and cutting tools, all are required to complete the process.
· Specialized Skills and Expertise:
Soap making requires knowledge of saponification, ingredient interactions, and the nuances of different oils and additives. This expertise is reflected in the price of the finished product.
· Unique Characteristics:
My handmade soaps offer unique qualities like natural scents from essential oils, vibrant colors from natural colorants. Every bar is unique and a labor of love.
